Triple Decker Run Sandwich with Cardio Leg Circuits

A what? Well first you run, then you do some leg moves, then you run again, more leg moves, and you finish with more running. A Triple Decker Run Sandwich with Cardio Leg Circuits.

These kind of circuits are tough and after just doing this workout today late morning for the first time, already I feel sore.

Have you worked out today? Everyday is a great day to get in a workout! Let me know your favorites=)

Workout of the Day: Quick Back Circuit

This workout feels good and is quick and easy. Grab a pair of dumbbells, anything under 10 pounds, and get started.

Here’s your speedy video for the moves and form=)

dead lifts X 10 reps X 4 sets

back flies X 10 reps X 4 sets

bent over rows X 10 reps X 4 sets

I used 8 pound weights and was able to get through the moves 5 times! I also did some planking afterwards. Did you workout today?

Here’s my wellness tips book for more on how to stay well:

Workout of the Day: Biceps and Triceps

I know I may be the minority, but I love working out. In college, I always had a gym membership (to an amazing gym for next to nothing-thanks college!) and I still do, just now my gym is packed and full of silver-haired people (no thanks South Florida HAHA.)

You can find me doing yoga, circuits, heavy lifting and especially walking, when weather permits. For this workout, I wanted to do a quick and easy circuit. Use light weights and lots of reps for these moves.

This sped up video shows you all the moves!

Bicep curls (to the front)  X 20 reps X 3 sets

Bicep curls (to the side) X 20 reps X 3 sets

Two-handed tricep extensions X 20 reps X 3 sets

Alternating hands tricep extensions X 20 reps X 3 sets

Use 5 pound weights to start or whatever feels good to you. If you can, use 8 pound weights but keep it under 10.

This lighter weights higher reps workout is very “girly,” but I love it. As much as I would rather be heavy lifting, these types of workouts feel better to my body. Did you workout today?

Self-Care for Positivity

As an immensely emotional girl, there are times when I’m on the verge of tears, all day. Not everyday, but some days. Whether it’s timing related, situational, or something else, we all have those days sometimes.

So what do you do? How do you get out of it? How do you overcome? I’ll tell you.

Self-care, and often. Take care of your head, and your heart, first. Whether you feel bad, good, or indifferent in the morning, do what you can to feel your best, it can only help.

Here’s how:

Consider Taking St. Johns Wort

St. Johns Wort is known for helping regulate and elevate mood. The bottle I have lists the dosage as three times daily with food. When I take it, I take two, once a day, and not usually with food. (Doesn’t irritate an empty stomach.) PLEASE make sure to check this against anything else you’re taking.

Call it placebo effect, or say it works, either way, I feel better.

Use Essential Oilsroller-balls

Oils have truly changed my life. I have replaced several OTC products, and use them around the house for other things every day. And self-care is no different.

For everyone, lavender is great. Whether you diffuse it, dab it on your wrist for the scent, or it’s part of a blend, this oil is calming, and will truly relax you.

As a woman, (with debilitating monthly cramps, PMS, and more,) Progressence Plus has literally changed these issues for the better. I take it everyday for two weeks in between cycles, and the week before, I take it only about every other day. I stop the week of, and will start taking it again as my time wears towards the end. This oil calms cramps, shortens my cycle, and helps two fold with the emotional aspect. I can’t speak better about it, but again, please do what works best for you and make sure to check any drug interactions

For guys who need a (natural) testosterone boost, Idaho Blue Spruce is the oil to use. I also formulated another testosterone mixture that is good for influencing fertility, raising testosterone levels, and overall men’s wellness. The Idaho Blue Spruce and the mixture were both enough to raise testosterone levels from too low to in range, according to a blood test. So they truly work and are a natural way to influence and help the body raise these levels on its own.

Workout

Walk, stretch, do yoga, or visit the gym, whatever it is, do something! Staying active and moving everyday allows your body to create feel good hormones that can positively influence your mood, and therefore, your whole day.

Eat WellIMG_20170610_153508

Sometimes when you “feel bad” it makes you want to “eat bad.” Don’t give in! Your body needs the minerals and vitamins from whole, nutritious foods to fuel your life. Eating fruits, vegetables, and homemade meals will make you feel the best you can. It will help you prepare mentally, with a clear head, and a belly full of nutrition.

Go Outside

Whether it’s cold, hot, or pouring down rain, do what you can to get outside. If you only have 5 minutes for a quick walk around the block, do it. Breathe deep, clear your mind, look at the foliage. This will calm you and reinvigorate your system, more than you may know. Want to go a step further? Smell a flower and touch it’s leaves. Use your senses to get back to what really matters, experiencing life, if only for a moment.

Life can be exhausting, and hard but you can push through it! And if not, fake it til you make it because the best is yet to come. Happy weekend all!

Healthy Traveler’s Tips: Introduction

Love to travel but dislike the unhealthy post trip feeling? Maybe you don’t love to travel all the time but work or personal life has you constantly on the go?

Let me tell you, there’s a way to travel healthfully and it really only takes a little extra IMG_20170604_173802effort to pull it off.

As a former preventative wellness employee and a current preventative wellness enthusiast, if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this.

You can’t look and feel healthy without a healthy diet. You just can’t.

And I get it. Life is busy and time is short. But I’m here to show you there are no excuses and there are healthy options everywhere.

Being on the road is no exception. Don’t believe me? I’ll show you how.

You’ll be surprised when you see how many healthy delicious things you can find IMG_20170611_071533when you’re on the road. Whether it’s work or fun, let me show you how easy it is to treat your body well when you’re in new environments.

The other part of a healthful life, get up and move. Everyday, no matter what. You only have time for a 10 minute walk? Do it. Need to get to the gym at least every other day to keep sane? Get there.

For a great core workout, a treadmill circuit, or a leg day, check out the links. If yoga is Y3 (1)more your speed, these moves are great too. Always keep moving, it’s easily one of the best things you can do for yourself. Here’s why:

Five Reasons to Move More Each Day:

  1. move more to reduce and maintain body fat
  2. move more to improve your mood
  3. move more to help you sleep better
  4. move more to keep your immune system strong
  5. move more to help you stay more focused

This could be as little as taking the steps. But do it everywhere you go. Just make sure that you get up and move everyday.

This water bottle is BPA free and you can take it anywhere!

My fleece blanket is pink, but I don’t travel without it!

Essential oils are my go to for everyday life and travel too. My top three oil blends are used for allergies, my face, and a preventative oil blend I call, “No Sick.”

On The Road: My Four Favorite Hotel Things

Currently my husband and I are in the middle of a two week work road trip. I’ve come to appreciate the things I love about staying at a hotel.

Don’t get me wrong, there are inevitably hiccups on the road. And only being places for a day or two makes for a lot of driving. But if you do it right, there are some things you can easily control.

Staying healthy and active on the road is one. A little prep work goes a long way and is worth it.  Enjoying amenities you don’t have at home is a plus too. We don’t have cable so hotel TV is one of our favorite night in activities.

Setting the temperature to very cold degree therefore lulling you into a deep sleep is another guilty pleasure on the road. These are my favorite things.

The Fitness CenterIMG_20170531_122229

I love a hotel gym. I remind myself of the boy I used to nanny for who would always want to go to a, “New park, new park!” There’s nothing I enjoy more than visiting the (new to me) hotel gym and getting in a solid workout.

No hotel gym? Make that work too. Walks to explore and get out and about are awesome and top my list. I also do circuits, stairs, run/walks, yoga, body weight workouts, and more. Want examples? Watch for on the road workouts to come!

Hotel TV

When Happy Hour is your go to for a “night out,” it’s fun to enjoy some TV time in your room. Well it doesn’t bother us to be cable-free at our place, catching up on Bar Rescue or finding old reruns of Modern Family makes for some great TV.

Air

It’s better to sleep in a cold temperature. Not only does it help your body regulate your internal temperature but it helps you sleep more deeply too. As a south FL resident, our place is kept at 77 during the day and around 75 at night. When I’m in a hotel, it’s whatever is comfortable during the day and 65 a night. Sleep tight, Zzzzzzzz.

IMG_20170602_081836Freshly Prepared Breakfast

I love a good hotel breakfast. Continental breakfast or hot, there are lots of healthy, filling options. Sometimes you even luck out with made-to-order omelettes.

It’s easy to make good choices that are not only healthful but delicious. To see the best way to eat well, watch for hotel breakfast and eating well anywhere articles.

I have traveled for work (and pleasure) in the past and am excited to share tips and tricks to being your healthiest you! With just a little prep and a yearning to feel great, incorporate these ideas to see how easy it is.
