Less Stress Essential Oil Blend

Aromatherapy has been used to promote well-being and relaxation for centuries. With essential oils, they’re not only enjoyable as a scent, but healthful, too! I love essential oils and I am always pouring and mixing them see what I can come up with.

This diffuser blend contains stress away, which is from Young Living, and is one of my favorite blend. This heavily lime scented oil blend smells great and always puts me in a great mood.

I added some eucalyptus, too, as it helps to clear and focus my busy mind.

My Favorite, Healthful Spring Scents

The problem is I love to have yummy scents in the house and this used to be candles. 800px-LA2_Skultuna_kontorsljusstakeWhat happens with that is I don’t like the chemicals and toxicity in candles. I know lots of people feel this way and they opt for candles instead of nothing.

Well, opt for candles no more! Use essential oils instead! I love to use my diffuser for delicious, fresh scents in the house. I also love that you can have the smells you want, no matter what time of year it is.

For most of you, Spring is here and the days are still cool but the green, lush life of the earth is growing back. For me, here in South Florida, summer is here and the cool Spring temps I love have since passed. But, that doesn’t mean I cannot enjoy the scents of Spring, and I fully intend to. Here are some of my favorite Spring blends:GettyImages_870316052.0

Refreshing Morning

  • Lime. Orange, and Grapefruit (2 drops each)

This citrus scent is light and fresh. It helps wake you up and focus on the morning. I love this combination and you will, too.

Spring Has Sprungdownload

  • Eucalyptus, Orange and Lemongrass (1 drop each)

This scent has a little punch with the minty Eucalyptus and the two citrus’. I love how the oils combine creating a one-of-a-kind scent.

5683Light and Airy

  • Lavender and Lemon (1 drop each)

I love the earthy scent of Lavender with the “bright” and light lemon. Also, the lavender is calming and the lemon is great for your immune system making this diffuser blend awesome and super healthful.

Post-Workout Sore: I Have an Essential Oils Bath for That

If you love to workout like I do, then you get sore. And sometimes you’re not only sore but it really hurts. I did a heavy leg lift over the weekend and yesterday my legs literally ached. I knew I needed an essential oils bath, I just didn’t know how much until I slipped under the surface of that warm bath.

I used different oils than I usually do in the bath and one was orange essential oil. As I drew my bath, my entire place started to smell like orange. It was heavenly. I felt better after this bath and if you’re sore from the gym, you will, too!

How to Prepare an Essential Oils Bath for Soreness

1. Draw a bath of warm, and NOT hot (this detail is most important,) water.

2. Using a mason jar or glass measuring container, add two cups of Epsom salt. To the salt, add your oils. For sore muscles, this is the combination I used:

IMG_20171005_080104

  • Copaiba 10 drops
  • Orange  10 drops

4. Soak 20-30 minutes to reap the benefits.

5. Finish with lotion

  • apply a high-quality lotion

Coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer, too, but a little messy. A little goes a long way, so use it sparingly, until you’re used to it. Other oils like jojoba, sweet almond, avocado oil, and others work much the same way.

Self-care using quality ingredients are vital to feel your best. Check out the links below for my everyday, wellness book and my favorite, natural lotion.

This lotion I love!

For oils, I use Young Living Essential Oils. If you want to order through me, let me know in the comments.

The Best Ways to Treat Your Flu- Naturally

It’s that time of year again and no one is happy about it. I’ve been lucky enough to escape getting sick so far, (thanks oils=) but I’m always ready for it.

The flu is wide-spread this year and it’s not good. I heard a stat about a week ago that 40flu.jpg states were dealing with the flu spreading, in comparison with only 12 last year at this time. Yike.

And the thing is, there’s no cure for the flu! For the most part, you just have to wait it out. Sometimes the doctor is best, especially if you have an agitated case or other conditions worsening your sickness. But for the majority of us, we need to comfort ourselves until it passes. Want to do it naturally? Here’s how:

Rest1_uHzooF1EtgcKn9_XiSST4w

There is nothing better for the body than rest, especially if you’re sick. Rest helps your body to restore itself and build your energy back up so that you can get better, faster.

Warm Drinks with Honey and Honey_Water_FeaturedPicLemon

Staying hydrated is key, so the more water, the better. Add some honey (to warm water, not hot) water and lemon, too. This will help strengthen your immune system and give you an antibacterial boost that your body needs and wants. You can also add honey and lemon, or any citrus, to tea or cold water. Sip away.

Steamy Showershower-head-resized-600.jpg

Showers are great when you’re sick. The warm water will soothe your achy body and wash the germs away. I love to add a couple drops of oils to the shower floor, too. Peppermint will help you feel less congested and more fresh. Grapefruit will awaken your senses and will help you feel more energized.

Diffuse Oils41D8nbBwChL

Diffusing oils when you’re sick can only help.  No Sick is a great blend to help you feel well. 1 drop oregano and 1 drop thieves plus water and you’re good to go. I also love lemon and lavender because the lemon is so healthful and the lavender is calming.

The flu is the worst so I hope you and yours are escaping its wrath this year, but if you’re not, these tips will help. The flu season will be over soon enough so until then, stay well!

My Favorite Healthful, Winter Scents

I love candles, and I always have. A fresh apple or a tart cranberry scent always reminded me of the season.  But I don’t love the chemicals candles emit and I stopped using them long ago because of it. But I miss them. I wanted to have great scents in the house and I know I’m not the only one. Who doesn’t love great smells? So now what?

I diffuse essential oils and can have all the smells back in my house, yay! Essential oils are becoming more popular then ever, and for good reason, they’re truly amazing. The Essential Oils Market is projected to exceed 11 billion in sales by 2022.

When I started using essential oils and I realized I could have amazing scents in the house that were non-toxic, I was so happy. Plus, not only are the oils non-toxic, they are healthful. Win-win. Here are my three favorite oil blends for diffusing this season:

Christmas Spiritdownload.jpg

YL Blend

I know, I know, Christmas is over. But this blend smells so, so good. I ordered it last year before the season started, but it quickly became one of my favorites!

Gram’s Blend

Ginger, Cinnamon, Clove, Grapefruit (1 drop of each)

My Gram used to slowly simmer whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, and various citrus peels in water. Once heated, this combination warms the house through scent and steam. images.jpgMy essential oil blend gives you the same scents, minus the peels and add-ins. And here’s the link to try the original recipe for stove top potpourri.

No Sick

Oregano, Thieves (1 drop of each)

Yes, this is one of my favorites, no matter the season. But I especially love it late in the year and throughout the beginning of the new year. It smells like Christmas and truly great. (Plus it keeps me healthy and well. What’s not to love?)

What are your favorite blends this winter season? Do you find yourself using some of the same blends, no matter the season?

Five Wellness Must Haves for Traveling

Christmas is coming, Christmas is coming! Us? We’re going..back home that is=) Are you traveling for this Christmas season? What does travel look like for you?

Nick and I fly a good amount, and take road trips when applicable. And, if you know me, you know I plan for the wellness of it all.

We’re going back to Wisconsin for Christmas, and I can hardly wait. I love the change of the seasons and we haven’t been home for Christmas since we’ve been living in Florida.

We will be flying, so the requisite suitcase will come along, filled with sweaters, jeans, leggings, and all the fuzzy socks. And what’s more? Wellness items, of course.

Here’s my five must haves. Like the products? The pictures are links to Amazon so you can get your hands on these great items, too!

Oils

You can purchase blends from my store!

I know, you’re shocked. But seriously, I always have oils with me. Right now, I’m working from a local library and I have oils in my purse. Over the weekend, I went to a wine tasting and yup, you guessed it, oils in my purse. Take them with you! No Sick is awesome for keeping well and I use Frankincense right around my ears to prevent plane popping. I love oils.

Snacks

Not only are airport snacks way more expensive than they should be, there aren’t that many great selections. Yes, I see more and more healthy options coming out all the time. But if you want to ensure to have great snacks you love and know are good for you, bring them yourself!

Water bottle

Keeping hydrated is about the best thing you can do for yourself on any given day. Plain water is best (and so refreshing!) so keeping a BPA-Free water bottle with you at all times is a must.

Blanket

Trust me when I say, oils aren’t the only thing that go everywhere with me. And I feel a bit like a child sometimes, but I love my blankie. Aww. How cute. The thing is, my dad got it for me at some point in college and I cannot let it go!

I’m talking, sleep with it every night, goes on every trip and even comes to any movie theater showing with us, that’s how much I love it. And in the airport and on planes, it’s awesome.

Probiotics

So this is the thing, whether you’re eating differently than at home or if you’re out and about with other people,  you need to take care of your gut. And probiotics do that. Do you eat (low-sugar) yogurt on the regular? What about fermented foods like pickles or Kombucha?

If not, consider a probiotic supplement. You’re tummy will thank you for it and the “happier” (read: HEALTHIER) you keep your tummy, the better you will feel.

And we’re off! We leave today for 10 days in our home state. Yay! If you’re leaving for the holidays, safe travels to you, and wellness, too!

Best Essential Oils for Feeling Well

‘Tis the season, right? The holidays are here!happy-holidays-snowman-cute-illustration-heading-33801505.jpg

Or are you used to getting a nasty cold or dealing with some other sickness most holiday seasons? What if I told you there was something you could do about it? What if I told you, you didn’t have to get sick?

I’m not a flu shot fan and I don’t get the flu shot. But you know what else I don’t get? Sick. At least not anymore.

Early on, Nick and I realized that we didn’t get each other sick. Bonus. But back then, we did get sick. Colds, the flu, things like heartburn and indigestion, and winter sicknesses, too.

Through the years, we’ve chosen to work towards being more health forward. We care more about what we eat and we are vigilant about exercise. But the biggest change? Essential Oils.

They have changed my wellness and preventative wellness life, so much so, that Nick and I really haven’t gotten sick in almost three years. Three years!

Want to know the secret? Well, it’s the oils of course! Try these (blends and singles) and see how great they make you feel!

Thieves and Oreganobottle-oregano-essential-oil-blooming-oregano-twigs-white-background-97914929

No Sick is my favorite blend, with Thieves and Oregano, and coincidentally, it smells like Christmas to me.  I swipe it several times a week, whenever I think about it. If I’m feeling off, like I may be getting “sick,” I swipe several times a day, for a few days.

Lemon Oil

Lemon essential oil is amazing for your immune system. (And it smells heavenly!) As long as your using food-grade oil, you can consume it internally, too. So add it to your protein shake, tea or hot or cold water for a great and healthy boost.

Tea Tree Oiltea tree

Tea tree oil has a fresh, light scent and it protects against viruses, bacteria and microbes.

This oil is great in the diffuser or just a drop, rubbed into your skin.

Naturally Cleaning Your Diffuser

It’s that time of year again when the cold and snow remind you it’s the holidays. Oh wait..it’s 80+ degrees outside and I certainly cannot see any snow.

Sometimes I forget, I’m living in South Florida. Well, no snow and no cold doesn’t change the date any, meaning Christmas is just around the corner!

And I know I’m not the only one who loves, loves, loves diffusing Christmas scents around the house. The thing is, when is the last time you cleaned out your diffuser?

Have you ever? Next time you clean it (and you probably should soon,) try this new and natural way to clean it. You will feel great knowing that the amazing oils you’re diffusing are so good for you and your family, and that they are coming from a clean source, too.

Here’s how you do it:

Diffuser Cleaning BlendIMG_20171128_161958.jpg

  • 1/8 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/3 cup water

**the amounts may depend on your diffuser**

  1. Add water about halfway to the fill line and a small amount of vinegar. For mine, the above amounts worked great.
  2. Let your diffuser run for about 5 minutes (or all the way through if you want) and dump out the rest of the mixture. With cotton swabs, clean out the inside and bottom of your diffuser.
  3. Lastly, add a small amount of water (halfway to the fill line or less,) and let it run again. And that’s it!

Your naturally clean diffuser is ready to put “clean” and amazing scents back into your house and air, yay!
