Do You Have a Morning Routine?

It’s been a little heavy around here to switch to such a light topic, but such is life for me=) My schedule is much different this year than the past two, and even on my earliest day I’m able to sleep in, which is all of 7 a.m. for me, but I’ll take what I can get.

And I’ve been wanting a morning routine for a while. Do you have one?

For me, I knew it would have to be short and sweet, to make it work. And also, immediately after waking up. So that’s exactly what I’ve made. It’s been about a week with my new morning routine and it’s the best start to my day.

The first thing I do when I wake up is reach for my phone. I mean, who doesn’t? But this is the kicker, I click on my Bible app first. There is a verse, a prayer, and an inspiration. It’s a several sentence read that is quick but powerful.

From there, I list off and pray about several things I am grateful for, as many as I have on my mind. And lastly, I pray that I accomplish all He wants me to that day.

Waking up like this has been a great start and so quick there is no excuse not to make it happen. I’m thinking of adding to it and am always up for adjustments, but already I’m a fan.

Do you have a morning routine? How long is it and what are you favorite ways to start your day?

My Monday was full of studying, work, a little cleaning and rest from the gym, and my morning routine first thing. Have a great week! XOXO

Scripture Sunday: The Best Way To Spend Your December

I shared this meme on my Facebook page and I wanted to share it with you, too. What better way to spend part of your prayer time in December than to learn Jesus’ story before his birthday?

I hope this inspires you to dig deeper into the Bible and more specifically, into Jesus’ life, this December.

Today is the first day of December, so it’s the perfect day to get started=) Happy Sunday and God Bless.

Scripture Sunday: Calling All Prayer Requests

Hi Friends, and Happy Sunday. Today I want to allow you to give me your prayer requests so that I can pray for you!

In fact, this is something I want to ask for more because, let’s be honest, we all have things we need to pray about. And how GREAT does it feel when people rally around us and pray with us or FOR us?

God loves to see us loving on each other. He wants us to care for everyone equally.

Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39

prayer-1308663__340

This means to care for, reach out, and pray for them, too. So, without further ado, what can I pray about for you? Send an email to emily.rokke@gmail.com or reply in the comments!

If you’re reading this, I want to pray for you.

Dear God, Never let us forget to love and pray for others! You take care of us, so we are able to put ourselves aside, and care for others. We know that You want us to love, pray for, and treat others as we would treat ourselves. Always remind us to put others first and to come to You with everything. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Make God a To-Do List

I heard this recently and I just had to pass it on.

We all know that God wants us to have joy, be happy, and give love to others. What does God not want us to do? He doesn’t want us to worry, be sad, be negative, be anxious, cry, or really anything negative. So what do we do then?

Because this life is hard. Things break our hearts, cause us pain, and sometimes it feels like it will never end. But it will, and this is how to stop it right now. Give it to God.

Write God a to-do list. Tell Him all the things you want Him to do for you, so that you don’t have to. He wants us to come to Him. He wants us to give Him all the bad stuff, so we can hold on to the good stuff, and only the good stuff.

Make His to-do list, and be real with Him. Tell Him you want Him to have your sadness, you worry, and your hurt. If something is breaking your heart, put in on His to-do list. If something is making you anxious, add it to the list. If you want to change but your’re struggling, add that to the list, too.

We know that everything happens according to God’s plan. That we need to share Him and share love, and that ultimately that’s all He wants from us. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t human and that we won’t feel these feelings.

It’s ok, and He understands. But He also wants us to remember that we don’t have to shoulder it, not any of it. He wants us to give it to Him. He wants to take all of it so that we can stop and smell the roses, slow down, be happy, and enjoy this life.

So, make Him a to-do list. Give him all of the bad stuff. And only keep the good stuff.

If you’re reading this, I want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank you for allowing us to give You all the bad stuff. We are so thankful to give You a to-do list of the hard things that make us hurt. We want to always remember that we can come to You with anything, no matter what it is. And we want to live with love and happiness in our hearts, even if we’re feeling all the humans hurts of this life. God, you are so good. We praise You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Put God on Your Phone

We’re all on our phones too much. All day long, half the night, and everywhere in between. Phone, phone, and more phone.

So why not put God on your phone? It’s something that we’re on, looking at, and using everyday, anyhow.

I love choosing something that’s pretty, or catches my eye and then also has an amazing and refreshing word from God.

This is one of my favorites. It reminds me that God has a plan for me. His plan is to prosper me, not to harm me, and to give me hope, and a future. God is so good!

For any verse, all you have to do is Google ‘bible scriptures wallpaper,’ and there are so many to choose from! If you want a specific verse, just ‘Google bible scripture wallpapers’ and a few of the scripture words to find the one you want.

This is such an easy and fun way to keep God in our sight, literally.

If you’re reading this, I want to pray for you.

Dear God,

Always remind us to keep our eyes on you! We’re so thankful that You have a plan for us. We are so blessed! We praise you and thank you for Your plans to prosper us and give us hope. You are such an awesome God and we’re so lucky to know we can get through anything as long as we have You. I’m Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: What Does Your Spiritual Life Look Like For 2019?

Good morning friends!

It’s almost the last day of the year and as hard as it is to believe, I’m so ready for it! 2018 was a year, and I am glad not to have to live it again. There were lots of laughs, but also some rough times to be had. There was growth, and a lot of self reflection. But overall, bye 2018 and hello 2019!

There are lots of things I want for 2019 and more God, more prayers, and more of the Word are at the top of my want list. And this is how I’m going to do it.

  • Flip calendar daily with scriptures and devotionals
  • Bible app
  • Stories of the Bible
  • Cindee devotionals
  • Finish and use my flip book!

I look forward to what 2019 has for me. I look forward to new and exciting work opportunities. I look forward to continued travels with my Hubby. I cannot wait for new experiences, new views, and new insights. And I cannot wait to grow closer and stronger in my relationship with God.

Do you have any tips for me, for more God in my life? What does your spiritual time with Him look like?

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, We all need to come to You more, dig into the Word, and live spiritually and not naturally.  Don’t let us forget that! We are so lucky to have You there for us whenever we need You. Thank You for Your plan for our lives. Thank You for Your patience with us and for all of Your promises. Please speak to us this year, so loud that we cannot NOT hear You. Please continue to guide us and remind us to be patient and trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And thank you to all of my readers and supporters! Have a beautiful and blessed end of 2018 and Happy 2019!

Scripture Sunday: Let Him Give You The Words

I cannot say how many times (ok, prob only a few, usually I know what I want to say) I’ve sat down to write this segment and not knew what I wanted to write about. But then, just a short while later, and I found myself finished with the post I didn’t even know how to start.

This is because these posts are only coming through me as a vehicle because really, they are coming from Him. And literally, thank God for that! After all, He is our strength, our protector, and our Heavenly Father, why shouldn’t our words come from Him?

So today, I give you this, let Him give you the words. Follow His plan and if you need to, ask questions! I am always asking Him everything, all day long. From small to tall, I talk to Him about everything. And I encourage you to as well.

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank you for always giving us the words. Thank you for guiding us to Your will and always protecting us and advising us in this life. We are so blessed to have you to come to for questions, advice, and strength. Like it says in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Whether it’s getting the words on the page, taking time to keep and maintain health in our lives, or by sharing You with the world, we are so blessed to have You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Ask Him and be Patient For The Answer

I realized lately that there are things happened, that seemingly keep happening and I wonder, “Why does this keep happening and what does it mean?” Instead of just wondering, I pray about it. Because really, who is going to give you a better explanation for His plan than God?

Some questions are silly like, “Why has there been so much elephant decor at the AirBnb’s we’ve been staying at?”

Some are more serious like, “Why are we following the hurricanes?” (Seriously, a month before we went on a preplanned trip to Myrtle Beach, hurricane, and now, about a month before we stay in the Florida panhandle, hurricane.)

There are so many things that happen in this life that I don’t understand. There are so many things in this life that I question. I try not to to obsess or let it be my every thought, but I do pray about it. I ask Him why, and I ask Him to show me, to tell me, and to explain to me what’s happening.

And sometimes I think, “God, hello! Why aren’t you answering me?!” But then I remind myself of John 13:7

So that’s that.

You have to have faith, be patient, and sometimes, you even have to wait.

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank You for Your plan. Thank You answering us in the perfect timing. Thank You for all that you do for us. We are so lucky to have You on our side. You just want us to be happy, enjoy life, and come to You with everything. How awesome is that?! Thank you for reminding us to have faith and be patient. You are an awesome God! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Are You Praying Enough?

pexels-photo-208278Because I’m not.

And this isn’t me feeling bad about it, guilty, or beating myself up, it’s just an observation. But I want to be praying more. So I write it down with the rest of my to-do’s, and I write it first. Every time I realize I am not praying as much as I want to be, I make it a priority.

Sometimes, I fall off the pray train. But I always get back on. And I guess it isn’t even praying that I am slacking at, there are always prayers throughout each day. But what I need is to get into the Word more, to read my daily devotionals, and to set apart a large chunk of time to pray and get into it, not just to pray out the door, as I call it.

Praying out the door refers to those quick prayers, the ‘Thank you God for waking me up,’ or the ‘Please protect my friends and family throughout this day.’ It’s for any small prayers you make during the day, and those are all great, and He wants us to talk to Him each day. And to pray to Him each day. But He also wants us to get deeper into our faith.

He wants to hear from us but He also wants us to give time and silence, and to meditate on the Word so that we can hear from Him.

Since traveling, my hubby and I took next to no time at all in figuring it out. We’ve easily streamlined workdays, outings, packing the car, and the organization of it all. But for me, I need to up my prayer game.

Do you pray on a “schedule?” What works best for you?

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank you for reminding us to keep praying and to keep talking to You. We are forgiven, whether we pray or not and whether we remember to talk to You and read the Word or not. You are such an amazing God. We are so lucky and blessed to have You! Please, talk to us so loudly we know it’s You and we cannot NOT hear You. Never stop reminding us to pray everyday, be thankful and grateful, and love on others as Jesus would. Some of us need these reminders more than others. **Haha** In Jesus’ name, Amen.
