Scripture Sunday: Take Today (And Every Sunday) To Rest

In a past bible study, our group talked about Sabbath and how important it is to take Sundays off. This is to be the day of God, rest, family, and friends.

But is that what we do? Do we take this day for God and our people? Or is it our only day off and so we squeeze everything into this day?

For most of us, we prepare for the next week on Sundays. We meal prep, schedule our life, and clean the house. We take kids to this sport, that sport, birthday parties, and play dates. We work and run errands.

Sunday has become the busiest day of the week and not the rest day that He wants for us.

Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.

Deuteronomy 5:12-14

I work a 4 days on/2 days off schedule, so work on Sundays is a part of my life.

But a couple of weeks ago, I really prayed on this. I asked God to show me a way to not work on Sundays, to rest, to have time for my people, and Him.

Ask and you shall receive. study-862994__340

Work was very slow for one of my working weekends, I literally did not have any work come into my bin. So that Sunday was freed up for what He wanted me to be doing, resting.

Last weekend was a scheduled weekend off for me, so more rest on Sunday. (And if you saw my Facebook/Instagram post, I completely unlpugged last Sunday, for the whole day. No phone. It was great.)

And now this Sunday is an editing holiday for me. What should have been my “Day 1” is now a day off.

Now, I’m not saying every Sunday I won’t work. And this last Sunday I did spend about 30 minutes at the end of my day thinking, and planning for the next week. But I also rested and stayed 100% present in the day.

I went to church. I cuddled kiddos. I spent time talking with my BFF. And you should find a way to do this, too.

So for this Easter Sunday, do what you can to slow down. Pray extra and rest. Praise God and go to church. After all, it’s Easter and you never know what miracles may come of it.

If you’re reading this, I want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank You for Your word. All we have to do is read the bible to see all that You have for us. Thank You for giving us a day of rest and urging us to take it. Thank You for giving us a day for You, us, and our family and friends. We are so thankful for You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Happy Easter Sunday friends=)

Scripture Sunday: Give Away Your Negatives So You Can Live Out Your Positives

A bad minute doesn’t make a bad day. Spilling water on yourself doesn’t ruin the whole day. And one argument doesn’t make the whole day bad. I could go on and on.

But who finds themselves feeling like this? Or acting this out? One bad thing happens, and instead of moving on and letting it go, we harp on it, continue to feel bad about it, and we let that one thing literally ruin our whole day.

Our attitude is our choice and better than that, it doesn’t have to be! Give it all to God. All the mistakes, the negative, the fights, the misunderstandings, the troubles, the problems, the fears, and worries, and anxiousness. He wants us to give it all to Him.

He wants to shoulder all of it for us so that we can live in joy, peace, contentment, and love. How awesome is our God?

When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.  Psalm 56:3

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you. Psalm 55:22

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

If you’re reading this, I want to pray for you.

Dear God, Remind us to live each day with joy. Whether we are hurting or sad or happy or having a bad day, please remind us to come to You. Please remind us to give our cares and worries to You. Please talk to us so loudly that we cannot not hear You. Thank You for the Word and Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Stay in Peace

This is what God wants us to do. He wants us to be happy, at peace, full of joy, and enjoying this life. (And remember, we cannot hear Him if we aren’t at peace. We cannot hear Him if we are sad, dwelling on our problems or focusing on the negative.)

He doesn’t want us to worry, to hem and haw, to feel anxious, nervous, sad, mad, or anything negative. He wants us to give all these feelings, thoughts, and problems to Him.

God wants us to know that He has a plan for us. He wants us to know that He is taking care of us and that He will provide us anything we need.

We must remember that things happen in His time and according to His plan. We must hold onto faith and patience. We must go to Him with everything and stand firm.

The Lord will fight for you, you need only stand still. Exodus 14:14

I love this scripture because it reminds me that He is always fighting for me. All I need to do is love God, love people, and take care of a stranger like I would my best friend.

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank You for taking care of us. Thank You for taking on all of our burdens, sadnesses, hurts, and negatives so that we can be left with only the positives. Thank You for all Your promises and for loving us. We are so blessed to have You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Let Him Give You The Words

I cannot say how many times (ok, prob only a few, usually I know what I want to say) I’ve sat down to write this segment and not knew what I wanted to write about. But then, just a short while later, and I found myself finished with the post I didn’t even know how to start.

This is because these posts are only coming through me as a vehicle because really, they are coming from Him. And literally, thank God for that! After all, He is our strength, our protector, and our Heavenly Father, why shouldn’t our words come from Him?

So today, I give you this, let Him give you the words. Follow His plan and if you need to, ask questions! I am always asking Him everything, all day long. From small to tall, I talk to Him about everything. And I encourage you to as well.

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank you for always giving us the words. Thank you for guiding us to Your will and always protecting us and advising us in this life. We are so blessed to have you to come to for questions, advice, and strength. Like it says in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Whether it’s getting the words on the page, taking time to keep and maintain health in our lives, or by sharing You with the world, we are so blessed to have You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: What He Wants From Us

God wants us to love Him. That’s a biggie. Love God, and love people.

God wants us to love everyone. He wants us to be giving. He wants us to jump to the aid of anyone who needs it.

God wants us to be selfless.

God wants us to lend a helping hand and volunteer. And He wants us to share Him.

He wants us to tell everyone to pray more, to listen to God more (because He talks to everyone,) and to share Him more.

God wants us to spend time, talk with, and join together with people who we love to praise Him.

And at the very least, God wants us to pray. He wants us to come talk to Him. He wants us to tell Him everything He already knows about us. He wants us to feel loved . He wants us to know that we are His favorite!

He wants to guide us, He wants to help us.

If only we would let Him.

Let Him.

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, Thank You for loving us. Thank you for reminding us to do what You want from us. Thank You for guiding us to be helpful, kind, loving, caring, selfless, and all around people lovers. We are so blessed to be loved by You. Thank You for always having a plan for us and reminding us of all Your promises in the Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Praise God

Anytime is a good time to give praise, to give thanks, and to pray. God is always listening,

Last week my best friend in the whole world had brain surgery. This came after a seizure that put her in the hospital two weeks before hand. And she’s 4 months pregnant.

What a month. It’s still surreal thinking about it, and it all happened so fast. The surgery was just four days ago, and it went perfectly. Everything went as planned and her and her baby are happy, healthy, and recovering. Whew!

At first, I lost it. I couldn’t even imagine for one second not having my BFF “at my side.” (We have lived across the country from each other for three years and half a country away for a over a decade.) We talk almost everyday and sometimes, multiple times. We have Sypke dates and send care packages, and are truly closer than ever.

Not having her is literally unthinkable and when I found out, I couldn’t pull it together. But then, I called my “Bible Mama.” I needed someone stronger than me, I needed someone to remind me of His promises, I needed to pray.

I called, breathless, shaking, and in the middle of having a glass of wine with my hubby on our fourth wedding anniversary, after I found out. I could barely talk, I didn’t know what to say, I was full of fear.

She let me breath it out for a second, told me I could NOT be afraid. She reminded me that He knew this was coming, that it was a part of His plan. And she forced me to start the prayer.

Through tears, I prayed. And I felt better. And I praised Him. I praised Him because I knew no matter what, He would take care of my friend. He has a plan for her and He loves her as much as I do. She’s His favorite!

It was hard and I couldn’t do it on my own. But God gave me Skip, my Bible Mama, when I was in Florida. We laugh together, enjoy coffee, tea, and snacks, and praise Him.  And I knew I could call her. And I knew she would answer. Because He told me she would.

He gave her to me and I praise Him for her! #sothankful

Also, the song, “God Gave me You,” was a song that my BFF told me was our song. Aww!

This is my life. And amen for that!

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, Thank You for giving us the amazing people you do in this life. We praise you, in the bad and in the good. Thank You for having a plan for us. We would be lost without You. Thank You for reminding us to see the sun through the rain, to be patient and have faith, and to continue coming to you for anything we need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
