Scripture Sunday: Ask Him and be Patient For The Answer

I realized lately that there are things happened, that seemingly keep happening and I wonder, “Why does this keep happening and what does it mean?” Instead of just wondering, I pray about it. Because really, who is going to give you a better explanation for His plan than God?

Some questions are silly like, “Why has there been so much elephant decor at the AirBnb’s we’ve been staying at?”

Some are more serious like, “Why are we following the hurricanes?” (Seriously, a month before we went on a preplanned trip to Myrtle Beach, hurricane, and now, about a month before we stay in the Florida panhandle, hurricane.)

There are so many things that happen in this life that I don’t understand. There are so many things in this life that I question. I try not to to obsess or let it be my every thought, but I do pray about it. I ask Him why, and I ask Him to show me, to tell me, and to explain to me what’s happening.

And sometimes I think, “God, hello! Why aren’t you answering me?!” But then I remind myself of John 13:7

So that’s that.

You have to have faith, be patient, and sometimes, you even have to wait.

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank You for Your plan. Thank You answering us in the perfect timing. Thank You for all that you do for us. We are so lucky to have You on our side. You just want us to be happy, enjoy life, and come to You with everything. How awesome is that?! Thank you for reminding us to have faith and be patient. You are an awesome God! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Are You Praying Enough?

pexels-photo-208278Because I’m not.

And this isn’t me feeling bad about it, guilty, or beating myself up, it’s just an observation. But I want to be praying more. So I write it down with the rest of my to-do’s, and I write it first. Every time I realize I am not praying as much as I want to be, I make it a priority.

Sometimes, I fall off the pray train. But I always get back on. And I guess it isn’t even praying that I am slacking at, there are always prayers throughout each day. But what I need is to get into the Word more, to read my daily devotionals, and to set apart a large chunk of time to pray and get into it, not just to pray out the door, as I call it.

Praying out the door refers to those quick prayers, the ‘Thank you God for waking me up,’ or the ‘Please protect my friends and family throughout this day.’ It’s for any small prayers you make during the day, and those are all great, and He wants us to talk to Him each day. And to pray to Him each day. But He also wants us to get deeper into our faith.

He wants to hear from us but He also wants us to give time and silence, and to meditate on the Word so that we can hear from Him.

Since traveling, my hubby and I took next to no time at all in figuring it out. We’ve easily streamlined workdays, outings, packing the car, and the organization of it all. But for me, I need to up my prayer game.

Do you pray on a “schedule?” What works best for you?

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you.

Dear God, Thank you for reminding us to keep praying and to keep talking to You. We are forgiven, whether we pray or not and whether we remember to talk to You and read the Word or not. You are such an amazing God. We are so lucky and blessed to have You! Please, talk to us so loudly we know it’s You and we cannot NOT hear You. Never stop reminding us to pray everyday, be thankful and grateful, and love on others as Jesus would. Some of us need these reminders more than others. **Haha** In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Have Grace with Yourself

Because God does with us.

We are all too hard on ourselves, expect too much, and when we inevitably let ourselves down, we take it hard. We feel bad. We feel overstretched and like we’re never getting enough done, accomplished, or taken care of.

But this isn’t what God wants for us. He wants us to slow down. He was us to give Him more time. He wants us to spend more time with our people. And He wants us to not try to keep up with the outside world, because let’s face it, the outside world is crazy.

Ephesians 4:7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

I myself never live up to my own standards. I always have more on my to-do list and I am never spending enough time with Him. But you know what? He does NOT feel that way. Those standards we have and goals we want to hit, those are self-imposed.

God knows where we were going to be in this minute. He knew that we were going to just make that noon-deadline for work this last week. (Me!) He knows that we may miss a deadline in the future, and He tries to remind us that that’s ok.

Miss a deadline, just don’t miss hearing Him talk to you.

Forget an errand, just don’t forget to pray.

Forget to give yourself grace, but remember, He won’t forget to give you grace.

If you’re reading this, I just want to pray for you:

Dear God, Thank you for giving us more grace than we ever give ourselves. We are so luck to have You. You are always there for us and You always know what is happening with us. You are always there for us to talk to, cry to, yell at, or laugh with. You always support us no matter if times are good or bad. You always love us and we thank You for that. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Stronger by Mandisa

I love this song. In fact, it’s my favorite Christian song and has been for a while.

This song reminds us to hold on, whether we are being pulled under the waves or poured on by rain. Just because the days are hard and we are hurt and crying, that doesn’t mean that God’s not right there. He knows what we are going through, He knows we are struggling. He is always there to listen to us, we just have to talk to Him.

He is always there for us. And all we have to do is let Him be.

‘Cause if he started this work in your life

He will be faithful to complete it

If only you believe it

He knows how much it hurts

And I’m sure that He’s gonna help you get

Through this

These are my favorite lines in Stronger. I love to turn this song up, belt it out, and keep it on repeat. Have you heard this song? Do you love it as much as I do?

If you’re reading this I just want to pray for you,

Dear God, We want to say thank you for being there for us whenever we need You. Thank You for the amazing Christian artists in this life that share their experiences and songs and are relatable and comforting to those around them. We know that You are there for us, no matter what kind of mood we are in or what we may have said or done wrong. You are an amazing, all-powerful God, and we are so blessed that You Have our backs! Praise You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: What He Wants From Us

God wants us to love Him. That’s a biggie. Love God, and love people.

God wants us to love everyone. He wants us to be giving. He wants us to jump to the aid of anyone who needs it.

God wants us to be selfless.

God wants us to lend a helping hand and volunteer. And He wants us to share Him.

He wants us to tell everyone to pray more, to listen to God more (because He talks to everyone,) and to share Him more.

God wants us to spend time, talk with, and join together with people who we love to praise Him.

And at the very least, God wants us to pray. He wants us to come talk to Him. He wants us to tell Him everything He already knows about us. He wants us to feel loved . He wants us to know that we are His favorite!

He wants to guide us, He wants to help us.

If only we would let Him.

Let Him.

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, Thank You for loving us. Thank you for reminding us to do what You want from us. Thank You for guiding us to be helpful, kind, loving, caring, selfless, and all around people lovers. We are so blessed to be loved by You. Thank You for always having a plan for us and reminding us of all Your promises in the Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Praise God

Anytime is a good time to give praise, to give thanks, and to pray. God is always listening,

Last week my best friend in the whole world had brain surgery. This came after a seizure that put her in the hospital two weeks before hand. And she’s 4 months pregnant.

What a month. It’s still surreal thinking about it, and it all happened so fast. The surgery was just four days ago, and it went perfectly. Everything went as planned and her and her baby are happy, healthy, and recovering. Whew!

At first, I lost it. I couldn’t even imagine for one second not having my BFF “at my side.” (We have lived across the country from each other for three years and half a country away for a over a decade.) We talk almost everyday and sometimes, multiple times. We have Sypke dates and send care packages, and are truly closer than ever.

Not having her is literally unthinkable and when I found out, I couldn’t pull it together. But then, I called my “Bible Mama.” I needed someone stronger than me, I needed someone to remind me of His promises, I needed to pray.

I called, breathless, shaking, and in the middle of having a glass of wine with my hubby on our fourth wedding anniversary, after I found out. I could barely talk, I didn’t know what to say, I was full of fear.

She let me breath it out for a second, told me I could NOT be afraid. She reminded me that He knew this was coming, that it was a part of His plan. And she forced me to start the prayer.

Through tears, I prayed. And I felt better. And I praised Him. I praised Him because I knew no matter what, He would take care of my friend. He has a plan for her and He loves her as much as I do. She’s His favorite!

It was hard and I couldn’t do it on my own. But God gave me Skip, my Bible Mama, when I was in Florida. We laugh together, enjoy coffee, tea, and snacks, and praise Him.  And I knew I could call her. And I knew she would answer. Because He told me she would.

He gave her to me and I praise Him for her! #sothankful

Also, the song, “God Gave me You,” was a song that my BFF told me was our song. Aww!

This is my life. And amen for that!

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, Thank You for giving us the amazing people you do in this life. We praise you, in the bad and in the good. Thank You for having a plan for us. We would be lost without You. Thank You for reminding us to see the sun through the rain, to be patient and have faith, and to continue coming to you for anything we need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: God is Everywhere

And I love it. I cannot go one day without Him showing up and reminding me He is there. Matthew 28:20 says He is always with you, and he really is.

At the Gym

What? I know it sounds weird but one day as I was about to leave the gym, I overheard a fellow gym goer talking with an employee. Normally I wouldn’t think twice about it but I heard the guy telling the employee about this new Christian rap station, artist, or song. I don’t know exactly what the conversation was but the gist of it? God at the gym=)

Work Emaillord-keep-your-arm-around-my-shoulder-and-your-hand-over-my-mouth.jpg

I don’t “work” for a company that is outwardly religious, religion based or otherwise, but lots of my coworkers are Godly women.  And make it be known. Because it’s a remote position, all of our communications are done over email and my boss had this meme one morning. Thank you God for my amazing coworkers!

Social Media

It isn’t hard to find God in and on social media. I see Him all the time. Fun memes, pretty scriptures with backgrounds, and more. All you have to do is “like” some Christian things and Insta people who like Christian things, and all the sudden your feed will be filled with God. Try it, you’ll love it.

At the Bar

Seriously, earlier last week I was just having a wine with my hubby at a bar. I can’t remember specifically what was said or how it came up but when the bartender said, “God Bless,” and it was good enough for me. Yes, God is even at the bar.

Wherever you go and whatever you are doing, He is there. How awesome is that?

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, Thank You for being everywhere we are. Thank You for constantly reminding us that we can come to You and that You are always with us. We are so thankful to hear from You and see You in our daily lives. There is nothing we want more than to feel Your presence and know You are there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Sunday: Worry Less

Philippians 4:6 says not to worry, but instead to go to Him with everything.

I love this. It’s reassuring and calming, like so much of the Word. The thing is, worry is a part of everyday life. And while I am not one to worry, I know people that are.

And this is where Jesus comes in. And prayer. And God. Don’t worry, instead go to Him with everything.

1280x1280

In your prayers, thank God for everything He has done for you. And pray to Him about everything you want Him to do. Prayer is how we communicate with God, and he is always listening.

As you pray (and go through your day,) pray as if you already have what you’re praying for, as if your prayer has already been answered. This is faith.

Speaking life and what we want from life is the most important thing. If you don’t want it, don’t say it!

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, We thank you that we can come to You and that You know our hearts. We are glad to know that we can always speak to You and that You are always listening. We thank you for Your peace and joy. We thank You for encouraging us to come to you in prayer whether we are sad, happy, upset, annoyed, hurt, or worried, because You will take care of all of it. Thank you for taking our worries so that we don’t have to carry them. In Jesus’ name, Amen

We’re Going On An Adventure

Otherwise known as our life. And we leave in less than two weeks! (Actually move from our apartment in South Florida to become gypsies, digital nomads, or like I like to call it, Airbnb’ers!)

I can hardly believe it. What once was a thought of, talked through, pipe dream is fast becoming our reality, and I cannot wait to tell you about it.

First things first, a little about my story. My hubby and I are anything but traditional. We moved and lived to Panama for 6 months early in our dating life. We came back and got married on the sly. And then, once we were back (home,) Nick found himself his dream job and we left and moved to Florida.

And today, we are coming up on almost three (HOT) years in Florida. It’s really crazy how fast it went. Wow.

And now, we’re on to the next!

sunrise-182302_1920
Wisconsin

We plan to spend most of August and September back home (in Wisconsin,) almost all of October traveling, November back here in the Florida life and by Christmas we will be to my mom and step dad’s in Arizona. Whew!

From there, we plan to spend most of  2019 on the west coast. We have lots of love for California, Washington and Oregon, and are excited to visit new states and areas, too!

The end of this year will go fast and there are so many things I am looking forward to. A Brewer’s game back home, seeing friends and family, walking on the lake path in Lake Geneva and my favorite egg rolls ever are just the beginning.

Maybe I should back up and preface all of this with, both my husband and I have the ability to work remotely. Travel and seeing the nation (and the world!) is on both of our hearts and with the remote work option, neither of us can say exactly where we want to live “forever” or where we want to be even for now. We want to see, and be, in it all!

We talked about this life, this dream, this possibility..all the way back when we lived in Panama. Truly, that feels like a long time ago. It’s crazy how much time has passed, how many things have changed, and all that has happened to us in the last five years.

And now, we both are in completely new professions that hold our passions and allow us to live out our other passions, too, like spending time with our people and traveling. old-1130743_1920

Life has not always been easy and sometimes, it still isn’t. But things happen and you have to be flexible, and be as positive and patient as you can!

I am so excited. It’s hard to believe. But for now, I must go. I need to pack my life, my place, and my suitcase! (We’re off to Vancouver Canada at the end of this week for 10 days,) and we move three days after coming back. Oy! Oh yes, and don’t forget about that work life, too!

Thanks for reading and do me a favor and put in a prayer for us! Life may not have turned out like we “wanted it to,” or even how we thought it would. But that doesn’t mean it hasn’t turned our exactly how it was supposed to.

I can’t wait to share this journey with you and all of my continued love for natural everything, delicious food, God, workouts, friends and family, travel and everything else Emmy!

XOXO

Scripture Sunday: My Five Favorite Verses For Strength

I’ve been working on a flip-book project, an idea I got from someone at prayer group. (Thanks, Mama!)

She gifted us with note card-sized flipping notebooks and section separators so that we could use it to hold all of our favorite verses. I love this!

As soon as I get it put together, I look forward to keeping it in my purse and using it daily.  I plan to have several sections in there and one of my favorites, and one I think is most important for me, is verses for strength.

These are my absolute favorite, in fact, this first one I will share with you is currently on my home screen for my phone!Screenshot_20180606-155847

The Lord will fight for you. Just stay strong. Exodus 14:14

My presence will go with you. And I will give you rest. Exodus 33:14

I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

Search for the Lord and for His strength. Continually seek him. 1 Chtonicles 16:11

The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace. Psalm 29:11

I’m really loving this first verse right now.

The Lord will fight for you. Just stay strong. Exodus 14:14

It isn’t to say that you can just lay down, stop trying, quit praying, and everything will work out. No, He is saying, I’m right here next to you, with you, fighting for you. But we have to fight, too.

We have the fight the good fight. We have to keep our minds on Him, and live in peace and love each other. We have to be good to people and take care of each other. And we have to do our best in this life and remember to find our worth in Him and not in earthly things.

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, We want to thank You for being our strength. We are so blessed to be Your children and to be a part of Your beautiful plan. Please remind us to come to You with our weaknesses, so that we can become stronger in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
