Crock Pot Stewed Apples and Raisins

If you read my Fall posts last year, you know I am not a pumpkin fan. I don’t want Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I don’t want pumpkin seeds, and I don’t want pumpkin cake. What do I want?

Apples, I want all the apples. Apple cider, dehydrated apples, raw and fresh apples, apple everything! And these stewed apples take next to no time at all, smell up your whole house with real apple flavor, and taste super indulgent all while being super healthy. Here’s the recipe:

Crock Pot Stewed ApplesIMG_20180828_184843

  • 6 medium apples, cored and cut into thick slices (I got about 6 pieces per apple)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

In a crock pot, add the apples and lemon juice and combine. Then on top of that add the raisins. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and drizzle with honey. That’s it! Turn the crock pot on high and cook for about 1 1/2 hours. It’s done when you can poke a fork through them, but before they are mushy.

Seriously, this recipe couldn’t be easier or quicker, and the taste will fool anyone into thinking you put serious time and effort into this dish. Enjoy the apples of the season and Happy (almost) Fall!

Scripture Sunday: God is Everywhere

And I love it. I cannot go one day without Him showing up and reminding me He is there. Matthew 28:20 says He is always with you, and he really is.

At the Gym

What? I know it sounds weird but one day as I was about to leave the gym, I overheard a fellow gym goer talking with an employee. Normally I wouldn’t think twice about it but I heard the guy telling the employee about this new Christian rap station, artist, or song. I don’t know exactly what the conversation was but the gist of it? God at the gym=)

Work Emaillord-keep-your-arm-around-my-shoulder-and-your-hand-over-my-mouth.jpg

I don’t “work” for a company that is outwardly religious, religion based or otherwise, but lots of my coworkers are Godly women.  And make it be known. Because it’s a remote position, all of our communications are done over email and my boss had this meme one morning. Thank you God for my amazing coworkers!

Social Media

It isn’t hard to find God in and on social media. I see Him all the time. Fun memes, pretty scriptures with backgrounds, and more. All you have to do is “like” some Christian things and Insta people who like Christian things, and all the sudden your feed will be filled with God. Try it, you’ll love it.

At the Bar

Seriously, earlier last week I was just having a wine with my hubby at a bar. I can’t remember specifically what was said or how it came up but when the bartender said, “God Bless,” and it was good enough for me. Yes, God is even at the bar.

Wherever you go and whatever you are doing, He is there. How awesome is that?

I just want to take the time to pray for you if you’re reading this:

Dear God, Thank You for being everywhere we are. Thank You for constantly reminding us that we can come to You and that You are always with us. We are so thankful to hear from You and see You in our daily lives. There is nothing we want more than to feel Your presence and know You are there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Strawberry Banana Protein Shake

Another day, another protein shake. And yum.

This classic combination is light and fresh. Bag frozen strawberries and banana chunks together as meal prep. This way, you can just dump it in and save a step!

Strawberry Banana Protein Shake

Just blend together and serve. Mmm, so good. What do you think of this flavor? My hubby loves it and I hope you do, too.

Four Citrus Blend

It’s summer, I’m back home for another couple months, and I AM LOVING IT! The nights cool off and you can cuddle with a blanket, and the days warm up and the sun shines bright. And sometimes there is a thunder storm during the day! It’s the best, you just can’t beat it.

I love the feels of summer, and I also love the smells. Who’s with me? This blend is all summer and combines four citruses for a light, bright summer-fresh scent. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Avocado Hair Treatment For Scalp Psoriasis (Or For Amazing Soft and Shiny Hair)

I have talked about my psoriasis before, my story and how I treat it naturally. Honestly, I hope that no one reading this has psoriasis, because #psoriasissucks. But at the same time, and equally, I hope that people with psoriasis do find my blog and find hope in the disease and tips and tricks to take care of it.

This post relates specifically to scalp psoriasis. No one can really see it, but I feel it. My head is itchy and hurts. And if you itch, our scalp flakes, and it’s just no fun.

While I don’t “treat” it with anything, I love to do avocado hair treatments, at least once a week. This is literally avocado oil on my hair, under a plastic bag, and beneath a heated towel.

It helps the itch, it moisturizes and softens my hair, and it is super easy to do.

Here are two videos to show you what you need, the exact steps, and why and how long I do everything. If you have any questions, please ask in the comments. And see below for a quick (non-video) tutorial, too.

Avocado hair treatments are great for my scalp. I use avocado oil and I love it. But you could also use olive oil or coconut oil. You will also need two towels, a plastic store bag, some kind of butterfly clip, and about an hour.

  • First, you slather your scalp in oil. Then you loosely secure your hair with a butterfly clip, add the plastic bag, and a warmed towel, and wait.
  • You can switch out the warmed towel with another warmed towel for salon effect. (Sometimes I will switch two towels out for each other about 4-5 times throughout an hour.)
  • Then you remove the towel, the bag, the clip, and get into the shower to rinse, shampoo, and condition.

PS you do NOT have to have psoriasis to do this treatment! It works for all hair and will not disappoint.

I hope that you love this as much as I do and would love to hear about your experience. Thanks for reading!

Gluten-Free Ham, Egg, and Cheese Souffle

This recipe is a version of my Gluten-Free Sausage Egg Souffle but with ham and two different kinds of cheeses instead. I love how easy this dish is to put together and how homemade and wholesome it tastes.

And using cubed ham cuts your cook time down on this recipe, because it’s ready to add to the dish, you don’t have to cook it at all! So just combine everything, throw it in the oven, and in about an hour, you will have a delicious piece of breakfast to enjoy.

Gluten-Free Ham, Egg, and Cheese Souffle

  • 1 pound cubed ham IMG_20180729_120349.jpg
  • 6 pieces of Gluten-Free bread, cubed
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup medium cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 eggs, whisked
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • butter to grease the pan

Cube the bread into dice-sized pieces and shred the cheddar cheese. Whisk the eggs, milk, mustard, salt, and pepper together.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×9 pan with butter and put 1/3 of the ham into the bottom of the pan. Continue layering with 1/3 of the bread and 1/3 cheese. Layer until finished and pour the egg mixture evenly over the top. Cover with foil and put into the oven.

Which version do you like better? I really enjoyed this ham and two cheese souffle. Let me know what you think!
